New First-Time City of Chicago Licensing Process
The Chicago Department of Buildings is pleased to announce a service improvement that is being implemented by the Bureau of Trade Licensing and Registration. These improvements will increase both the speed and efficiency with which the Department processes first-time license applications for the following trades:
Commencing on September 1, 2010, all applications filed by first-time applicants will be processed by Continental Testing Services. To make the process easier for our members, you can download the first-time journeyman application by clicking the link below.

For tradesman already holding a City license, renewal of your existing license will continue to be performed online at the Department of Buildings website at www.cityofchicago.org/buildings
