Community Activities Supported by Local 130 UA
For many years, Local 130 has participated in Rebuilding Together, a program working to preserve and revitalize homes and communities, assuring that low-income homeowners, from the elderly and disabled to families with children, live in warmth, safety, and independence. Every year, over one hundred Local 130 volunteers help low-income Chicagoland homeowners by donating plumbing labor and materials for desperately needed repairs.

Year round, Local 130 aids Chicago’s disadvantaged and elderly. Local 130 offered “The Mayor Daley’s Plumbing for Seniors” program to the City of Chicago Department on Aging on the 100th anniversary of Plumbers’ Local 130 U.A. Each year, more than 40 jobs are performed by over 150 volunteers.
Started in 1993, Local 130’s Kid’s Party makes hundreds of children’s dreams come true with the simple act of giving. Inner city schoolchildren from the city’s west side are treated to a delightful day with Santa’s helpers, apprentices, office staff, and volunteers to do everything from cooking to cleaning to gift sorting!

The Chicago Journeymen Plumbers have been sponsoring and organizing the Chicago Saint Patrick’s Day Parade since 1957. That’s right! Everything from organizing the Parade Units to Dyeing the River Green, it’s been the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers that bring this world reknown event to life every year.
